序言都只是以pdf form dowload and ENGLISH only…
i had been hk art museum many times since high school(90’s)…..since1991 to 2001 i left hong kong, the exhibition piece were almost the same, but i was still going there, because there was not many places to go at that moment in hk to see reasonable standard art work.
I was in macou art museum in 2001 just before i came to london, i was studying architecture already, well, the different is obvious…even the macous old town, it was how a nice and relaxing place.
I was in uncountable european musuem after living in london….tate modern is a place i visit every 2 mouths because of there is always something new and which is for visiter participation….Pompidou centre , I was there few times…the last time was in 2006 oct, it was paris night…all musuem in paris were free entrance and open overnight at that evening, also, there were different programmes which prepared for visitors…it was just like a big art party in paris….load of people on street at 2:00am…activities are happening…people were singing…dancing…looking at performance at different corner of street…
still listening RTHK everyday in london…when i am doing boring drawing at work and also when every evening doing school project at home. Hong Kong has her own culture….cables on the roof of ‘tong lao’, street food and old people in council estate….all are very special and touching scenes.
However, the leadership and middle class social circle are still full of people from the 70’s ‘jing ying’ education. They are the people bring rich….but, time is changing, it is obviously Hong Kong is in a stage of becoming a more full developed city, a lot of conflict come..
The social conflict about cultural development is still in a very basic level…like the protection of historial building and city planning, to be honest…in those espect, Hong Kong is in an unciviled level from my point of view……in london, all my project no matter in school and at work…..the coherent of existing site situation are always be one of the most important issue in a proposal…what is the architecture school do in HK??…I remember I never really learn of that when i was in Hong Kong…
That is a long road…and that is scarey for new chinese designer to go home when they are changed aboard.
Dear sam,
thanks for your message. How are you lately? Hope you still enjoy your London life.
I always think that when you are at the home town, you should enjoy what she offers you, but not always complain.
However, staying in Hong Kong, the atmosphere is so “getting stuck”, so boring and full of stupid but rich people – just like the nature-barrier high-rise building, the dismantle of the old stuffs, the clearance of colonial colours –all make us feel ai-ya-ya-ya……
Life of london which i am still not fully experimenced..
because i am always busy in study and work..as may be u know i failed my final project last yr, so i am doing a new project again in this yr and work in an office for 3 days a week….well…till now still have 6 weeks to go to finish my project..and is going real good,so i am confident on it…it is an library proposal in a Stalin eva built communism town in Poland(Nowa Huta)….
One of the reason of my failure in my last project was because of the lacking of site coherent…but i learnt from it and this yr seems I have wider observation in this kind of espect:> Also I think that is kind of lucky because I can do one more college project before finish my study and which is kind of compensation and enhancement of my architectural knowledge as I had very bad fundation of it.
Busy life is a tough training though…which make me feel even a sun bathing is something really luxury and i will be real looking forward to do, that is good because i can be more easy to be happy by something real little..
Maybe it’s your unconscious that keeps you stay at London~~~ hor hor hor
how many years have you been there?are you planning to get the long stay visa? (seems there is a kind of PR with study over 10 years?)
whatever, treasure your life and hope that you can find true friends out there, may you still have the LA spirit with you !!!
